Travel Information for Montgomery, Alabama

Downtown Parking near the Union Train Station

Metered parking is FREE after 6 PM on Friday until 6 AM on Monday. So, if you see any black or red metered parking spots, those are always a good place to get free parking. If you want ot go to a parking lot or a parking deck, these are the recommended ones nearby the buses that will pickup on Water Street behind the Embasy Suites hotel:

1. Montgomery Advertiser Lot  (Free)
Located at 425 Molton Street.
Directions:  From Bibb Street entrance, turn right onto Bibb Street towards Molton Street. Turn right onto Molton Street. Crossover Tallapoosa Street and turn left into the parking lot for the Montgomery Advertiser. Continue to the back of the parking lot for additional parking.

2. Commerce Lot ($10 per day)
Located at 263-273 Commerce St – Across from the Union Train Station
Directions:  From Bibb Street entrance, go left on Commerce Street. towards Lee Street. Turn left onto Commerce Street. Cross over Tallapoosa Street. Turn left into the deck before you reach Water Street.

3. Intermodal Deck ($6 per day)
Located at 495 Molton Street – Next to Union Train Station
Directions:  From Bibb Street entrance, turn right on Bibb Street towards Molton Street. Turn right onto Molton Street. Cross over Tallapoosa Street. Entrance will be on your left across from the Embassy Suites.

4. Coosa Deck ($6 per day)
232 Coosa Street – 2 blocks from Union Train Station
Directions:  From Bibb Street entrance, turn left onto Bibb Street towards Commerce Stret. Cross over Commerce Street, go one more block, and turn left onto Coosa Street. Continue straight, through the traffic circle and turn left into the deck.

5. Municipal Deck ($6 per day)
Located at 31-1 Madison Ave. – 2 blocks from Union Train Station
Directions:  From Bibb Street entrance turn left on Bibb Street towards Commerce Street. Continue straight, cross over Coosa Street (Bibb Street turns into Madison Avenue) and turn right into the parking deck.

Airlines
  • Will you be flying to Montgomery to participate in the 60th Anniversary Selma to Montgomery bicycle ride? The airlines that fly to Montgomery are Delta and American. The Montgomery Airport is online at www.FlyMGM.com.

    If you won't be flying with one of the 2 airlines that serve Montgomery,  Birmingham or Atlanta will be your next closest airports. Birmingham is 90 miles North of Montgomery on Interstate 65. Your other option is to fly into Atlanta, which is 160 miles Northeast of Montgomery on Interstate 85. Please note that Montgomery & Birmingham are on Central time and Atlanta is on Eastern time.

Downtown Montgomery & Hope Hull Host Hotels 

PLEASE NOTE: We have been working feverishly with local Montgomery hotels to negotiate special hotel room rates for the Selma 60 Ride. If you book a refundable room reservation that you can cancel, you can book at one of our Host Hotels and then cancel your first room reservation.

  • You can stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Montgomery Downtown or Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Montgomery (Hilton affiliated properties) or save $20-$30 on your room rate and get free parking & a free hot breakfast by staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites Montgomery Airport South in Hope Hull for the 2025 MBC 60th Anniversary Selma to Montgomery Bicycle Ride. We also will be having our Friday evening rider packet pick-up and Goody Bag pick-up nearby at the Montgomery Train Shed from 4:00 pm - 8 pm.

    If you ordered any 2025 Selma 60 Ride Gear before December 17 (jerseys, T-Shirts, or thermal arm warmers) when you registered at www.BikeReg.com/Selma60Ride, you'll be able to pick-up your 2025 Selma 60 Ride Gear on Friday evening or early Saturday morning at the Montgomery Train Station as well. Any Selma 60 Ride Gear orders placed after December 17 may not be available on February 21-22 and will be mailed to you after this year's Selma 60 Ride in March.

    Civil Rights Memorial Center hours of operation are M-F 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Your Bicycle 
  • Do you love your bike so much that you'll pack it with you on the plane to Montgomery or is renting a bicycle in Alabama more your style? There are 2 local Montgomery Bicycle Shops that can assist you with your bicycle needs. Each shop has its own unique personality. So, give each one a call and let them know that you are coming to Montgomery. The Montgomery local bicycle shops do NOT have any available bikes for rentals, though. You can check with Montgomery WhiteWater, Trek Auburn (East of Montgomery) or Cahaba Cycles (North of Montgomery). Montgomery also has Bluebikes by Movatic Bike Share, but these in-town bicycles may not be suitable for a 51-mile Selma to Montgomery bicycle ride. The Bluebikes by Movatic bikes have a 5-speed internal hub gearing system.
  • Montgomery WhiteWater has a limited number of Trek Marlin 6 Mountain Bikes available to rent for the event.
    Sizing ranges from XXS – XL based on availability and is offered on a first come, first served basis.
    Bikes: Trek Marlin 6 Mountain Bikes (27.5” and 29” wheels based on frame size)
    Number of bikes: 8 (sizing based on availability and on a first come ,first served basis)
    Price: $20
    Pick Up: Bikes will be tagged, delivered and available for pick up at packet pick up on 2/21 at the Train Shed from 4p-8p
