Smart Cycling Safety Rodeo

Our Smart Cycling Safety Rodeos encourage and develop safe habits for all people who bike and provide safety inspections of participants' helmets and bicycles.

Please join us during May is BIKE MONTH to learn about road safety and improve your bicycle handling skills. The Montgomery Bicycle Club has paired  with AARP to offer the Smart Cycling Safety Rodeo to get you rolling in May! 

There will be two FREE rodeo sessions offering a helmet fitting, bike inspection, bicycle handling skills,  & traffic skills course. Each session is limited to 25 participants.

You must bring your own bicycle and helmet!
Date: Saturday, May 6
Venue: Union Station Train Shed

Time: Rodeo 1: 9:00 - 11:30am

CHILDREN'S ONLY Rodeo - Elementary & Middle School age children  (each child must have a parent or guardian present to register and sign waiver).
*There will be 6 NEW bicycles given away during the morning session, thanks to ASE Credit Union!!

Time: Rodeo 2: 1:30 - 4:00pm 
ADULT Rodeo for Ages 45+ 
Solo or accompanied by a child/grandchild Elementary or Middle School age. 
This session is geared towards remembering the simple joy of riding a bicycle while building lasting memories with the youth in your life. 25 Rider Limit

Rodeos will include:
  • Bicycle inspection and fit.
  • Helmet fit & adjustment.
  • Bike Handling Stations for:
  1. ​Starting, Stopping, Straight line
  2. Dodging Hazards
  3. Scanning, Signaling and Turning
  4. Turning & Yielding
  • Continuous Flow Traffic Skills Course to practice:
  1. Entering the road 
  2. Right turn 
  3. Scanning & avoiding hazards 
  4. Left turn 
  5. Yielding to crossing traffic

Volunteers Needed for the May 6 rodeo! We will need volunteers to help with early morning set up and afternoon break down, as well as manning the different booths and skills & drills sections of the course Gently used and new bicycle donations are gladly accepted!
